I like to write about this subject for a couple of different reasons. The first is that it lets me vent about something that really yanks my chain. And, every time I write on this topic, Christians come out of the wood work saying, 'But we're not all like that.' Well, now apply that concept to your views on Muslims. I guess the shoe fits a bit tightly, eh? BTW... Jesus wore sandals.
Case in point; a man leaves his 13 year old daughter in the care of a pedophile, after she says she's been attacked by this other man. He'd rather preach to inmates at the Cook County Jail than to help his own daughter, but he is a Christian. God loves him.
Another act of Christian charity would be the destruction of social programs that help the poor and disadvantaged. Christian charity. There's an oxymoron for you.
All those right wing nuts in Congress, who claim to be uber Christian, sure don't act Christ-like. He helped people; I don't recall a story about him hurting anyone. Yet these Congressional wing nuts claim to be Christians, with Christian values, while taking help away from people. That is hypocrisy in your face.
Granted, not all Christians are like this, but neither are all Muslims, extremist terrorists. The problem is that those in power are like this and the ones who are not keep voting them into office.
I challenge all people of all faiths to examine the tenets of their faith and look for anything that indicates that some people are more deserving of others to, say, eat. I'll bet it even says in there to love thy enemy. So what's the deal? Are you Christ-like or not? If so, start acting like it.
I seem to recall a passage that goes something like this: Judgment is mine sayeth the Lord. So why do we go around judging people daily? Who the hell are we to judge? Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone? I ask you, Are you Christians or not? Do you walk the walk or just talk the talk? Actions speak louder than words, to be cliche.
Like Scott Walker saying that $7.25 an hour is a livable wage... How would he know? He couldn't do it. His wife would leave him and his children would slit his throat in his sleep. But hey, they're probably good Christians too.
I wonder if white Christians know that there are Christians of color too. Black people and brown people pray to the same God they do.
So, that said, one must assume that God is color blind. He created us all, right? He created this planet for us to share, not to hoard. We must all learn to get along. Why can't we agree to disagree? Why are we so God damned greedy? There is plenty for us all. Mommy said SHARE!
