History has shown that when republicans try to "help" they really do more harm than good and after so many failed attempts one has to wonder if they are doing it on purpose.
Post Office
In 2006 the USPS made a 600 million dollar profit, that year the republicans passed the Postal Accountability Enhancement Act. This little gem while sounding great put back breaking regulations on the USPS that no other agency public or private had, it mandated that they fund their pension program for 75 years into the future and had a few years to do it. This funded healthcare and pension benefits for future employers who won't even be born until about 2050. Of course after this helping hand from republicans the post office started running massive deficits at which point in time the GOP started crying the post office is a failure and a horrible run organization.
Medicare
In 2006 republicans passed Medicare D which was a prescription drug plan for seniors, sounds like a great idea but when you look deeper it did not allow for cost controls for medication and was a huge handout to drug makers. Like most pre-Obama legistlation this one was not paid for and has put a huge strain on Medicare. Now with Medicare D being a drag on the system republicans again are crying it's a failed policy and about to go bankrupt.
Fight against Terrorism
After 9/11 republicans started to exploit the dead before they were even recovered or the family had time to grieve. For years they won election after election by exploiting fear and using the 9/11 victims and deceased military personal as their own personal propaganda machines. Their response to 9/11 was to restrict American freedoms, shred the constitution and invade 2 Muslim countries (1 of which had nothing to do with 9/11). Before the GOP "war on terror" Al Qaeda was a small group in Afghanistan now terrorists are spread all over the globe with many offshoots so they managed to make terror global and dare I say hip with young people. After blowing up the middle east and creating more terrorists in 10 years than would exist in a lifetime they now are passing the buck as they usually do because the Democrat elected to clean up their mess isn't doing it fast enough.
Lets not forget gems that republicans have hidden in the defense spending bills they managed to
Make online poker illegal (a crime to fund it)
Hand over Native American burial grounds to a mining company (w/ ties to Iran)
Cut 100 million from SNAP for poor/hungry children
Raised amount of money people can give to politicians
Gutted bank reform and installed government bailouts for banks if they lose on their gambling so we could see another 2008 all over again.
So next time a republican tells you they're trying to help look closer, when they help it usually means they are trying to destroy something and burn the corpse. If they did it once or twice it could be a mistake but the fact for the last 30 years they have passed legislation that was supposed to be helpful that later was used to destroy programs they didn't like shows a purely evil pattern. I was hoping it was ignorance on their part that maybe they didn't know exactly what they were doing but looking at a pattern it is pure evil.
